As part of our Entrepreneurship Certificate, this one-month course will teach participants what qualities are necessary to cultivate in order to become a successful entrepreneur. Students will learn how to identify and acquire the abilities associated with being a successful entrepreneur, how to establish goals to help grow a business and how to successfully manage a new business.
The course is divided into four units. In the first unit, students will cover the following topics:
- What is an entrepreneur?
- Checklist for going into business
- Are you a potential entrepreneur?
- Success, self-esteem and goals
- Brainstorming business ideas
Unit 2 will include:
- As you start your business
- Selecting a legal structure
- Licensing and registrations
- Planning your business
In the third unit, students will cover:
- Using technology
- The essential 11 computer skills
- Marketing strategies
- Internet opportunities
And Unit 4 will highlight:
- Managing your business
- Financial statements
- Record keeping and taxes
- Grants and government programs
After the course, participants will be able to understand how to establish a legal business entity, develop an outline for their business plans, use technology to form a professional business, come up with ideas on practical businesses to consider and determine if starting a business is right for them, among others.
